New member – Dr. Silvija Abakuks

On the occasion of the 98th meeting of the Central European Brewing Technical Analysis Commission (MEBAK) on April 29, 2022, Dr. Silvija Abakuks was unanimously elected as a full member.

From 2004 to 2008, Silvija Abakuks completed the course of studies in food chemistry at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster. This was followed by training as a state-certified food chemist at the Chemical and Veterinary Investigation Office Münsterland-Emscher-Lippe in Münster, which she successfully completed with the 2nd state examination in 2010. From 2011 to 2015, she completed her PhD at the Department of Food Chemistry and Molecular Sensory Analysis at the Technical University of Munich in Freising. The topic of her dissertation was "Characterization of bitter and pungent compounds in extra virgin olive oil and studies on the formation of oral lipid films during consumption".

Since 2015, Dr. Silvija Abakuks has been working at Döhler GmbH in the Group Analytics department in Darmstadt. Döhler is a leading global manufacturer, marketer and supplier of technology-based natural ingredients, ingredient systems and integrated solutions for the food and beverage industry. In 2017, Ms. Abakuks took over as team leader for the Analytics area Contaminants and Residues.

MEBAK is pleased to welcome Dr. Abakuks as a new member and warmly welcomes her to its circle of experts.
