W-042.03.900 [2005-08] Silicic Acid in Boiler Water

Application/Purpose

The method describes how to determine the silicic acid content of boiler water. Silicic acid causes harmful and particularly tenacious deposits in boilers and thus threatens their smooth operation. This also applies to downstream equipment, such as turbines. The maximum acceptable silicic acid content depends upon the p value of the boiler water.

Scope of Application

Boiler feed water for use in the production of beer and other foods
