Goals

One of the primary goals of DBAK and one still included in the articles of association of MEBAK today is to promote research in the scientific and technical analysis of raw materials and beverages, while facilitating the standardization of both existing and new analysis methods and increasing the general accessibility of these methods.

The name MEBAK was chosen in order to admit members from Central Europe, who share common analytical and technological interests and similar challenges in the field of brewing. For this reason, even in the early days of the organization, the inclusion of the Czech Republic and Italy was discussed and deemed favorable. This has long since been realized.

Since its inception, the goals of MEBAK, namely to provide analysis methods for use in all breweries, including those mid-sized and smaller, have not been lost in these times of rapid globalization.

From the very beginning, one of the primary objectives of MEBAK was to provide students with a collection of analysis methods to serve as a guide and a reference for their professional and vocational training.

These analysis methods have been published as a multiple volume collection, entitled Brautechnische Analysenmethoden and are considered a standard reference work for the malting, brewing and beverage industries. As of 2008, the collection is being translated into English volume by volume.
